1:700 USS Lyndon B. Johnson (DDG-1002) destroyer - Dragon

• This kit permits modelers to build either USS Lyndon B. Johnson/USS Michael Monsoor, or Zumwalt DDG-1000.
• They are accurately produced in 1/700 scale and the kit features new toolings as befitting such a radical new design.
• As usual, both a waterline and a full hull are available. Dragon’s kit reflects the latest configuration of these destroyers.
• Slide molds are widely utilized, and parts separation is very smartly engineered so that the plastic kit masterfully replicates the unusual shape of this stealth destroyer.
• This item features completely new parts such as the top of the main superstructure, upgraded radars and two Mk 46 Mod 2 30mm cannons.

Die USS Lyndon B. Johnson (DDG-1002) ist der dritte und letzte für die US-Marine gebaute Zerstörer der Zumwalt-Klasse. Der Auftrag zum Bau des Schiffes wurde am 15. September 2011 an Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, vergeben. Zusammen mit den Mitteln für den Bau der USS Michael Monsoor hatte der Auftrag einen Wert von 1,826 Milliarden US-Dollar.[2][9] Am 16. April 2012 gab Marineminister Ray Mabus bekannt, dass das Schiff zu Ehren von Lyndon B. Johnson, der von 1963 bis 1969 als 36. Johnson diente im Zweiten Weltkrieg in der Marine, wo er mit dem Silver Star ausgezeichnet wurde, und erreichte schließlich den Rang eines Kommandanten der US-Marinereserve.[10] DDG-1002 ist das 34. Schiff, das von der Marine nach einem US-Präsidenten benannt wurde.
